New York, NY- The New York Jets continue to try to salvage a season that hasn’t even started yet. Manish Mehta is reporting that the Jets will release Sione Pouha, their 34 year old nose tackle. If this is not news to you, it is to the people that make financial decisions for the team based off the fact that Pouha was due to get $4.9 million on March 15th. It will open up $3.8 million in cap space for this year.
According to several of our sources close to the Jets organization, they are said to have asked Santonio Holmes to take a pay reduction to help the teams cap in 2013. It is possible that the Jets can be without Brandon Moore, Dustin Keller, Santonio Holmes and Darrelle Revis at the beginning of camp if what is expected occurs.
The Jets are expected to look to the draft for defensive line help in which the crop of talent for that position is very deep.
