Miami, FL- As free agency looms today, in which Adam Schefter reports will probably be the highest paid free agent, wide receiver Mike Wallace has been strongly rumored to be headed to Miami. There have also been grumblings that the Minnesota Vikings with the trade of Percy Harvin, may also get in on the mike Wallace sweepstakes. At what most NFL executives believe will be a cost between $10-$12 million per year, this will likely be the most any team will pay for any player during this free agency period.
In a report from Jeff Darlington of NFL Network, the Dolphins are expecting to up the ante on having Wallace as their #1 receiver in 2013. These teams perhaps pitting themselves against each other will have Wallace’s camp licking their chops. Minnesota has a huge hole to fill at the receiver spot as do the Dolphins. According to sources, Miami is the more favorable spot for Mike Wallace.
The real question is will Wallace be the 2013 version of Nnamdi Asomugha? If so this will be a heavy cost to pay along with the new Collective Bargaining Agreement in years to come. Only time is going to tell if teams this year will be willing to fork over this type of money for potential free agents. Let us know what you think out there about this potential signing.
