New York, NY- Welcome to Giants Jargon where the staff talks about all relevant and irrelevant things about the New York Giants. Here is the latest rant about the Giants:
5 Reasons why the Giants will compete this season
The Giants brain-trust, Jerry Reese has always been able to field a quality team every season. most may say that the Giants have had some late season break downs but that mainly comes down to injury as it does with all teams in the NFL. With the draft approaching, you best believe that the Giants Execs are doing all of their due dillagence to field the best crop of players for their 53 man roster come September.
4. Tom Coughlin
Yeah I know the guy’s old, but what coach so you know gets results out of what some may deem to be subpar talent? Other than Bill Bellicheck of course. Tom Coughlin remains on the hot seat every year and somehow seems to make a fool of the nay sayers by getting the job done when it counts. We can certainly look to last year and say that the team underachived, but it clearly wasn’t on Coughlin.
3. The Football Gods
Correct me if I am wrong, but when the Giants seem like they are down for the count don’t they always find a way to have the ball bounce in their way. The Giants are simply a gutty team with an extreme amount of moxie. When you least expect it they find a way. That is why I wouldn’t read into the free agency signings and who the Giants don’t get. Simply put they know how to win. And this is coming from a Cowboy fan.
2. The NFC East is suspect
Lets look at the division as it stands. The Eagles have a new coach in Chip Kelly. He’s from College and we don’t know what we are going to get out of him and we do know that there aren’t too many college coaches that have made the quantum leap to be successful in the NFL. The Washington Redskins are cap strapped and their franchise quarterback may have to learn how to throw from the pocket if he has any chance of surviving TWO major knee injuries. They also have to think about changing their whole offense because of this which may make RGIII appear to be quite pedestrian. The Dallas Cowboys on the other hand always find a way to field an underachieving talented team. And lets not forget they have the ticking time bomb Tony Romo under center. So, why can’t the Giants at least win the division?
1. Eli Manning
As much as I hate to say it, this guy has the look of Alfred E. Newman and the heart of a Rocky. Eli has proven time and time again that he is hands down one of the best 4th quarter quarterbacks in the league. Two Super Bowl MVP’s and still fairly young as a QB, the Giants still have some upside in the tank.
I rest my case.
