Portland, OR- I have come down with a bad case of “I Told You So”. Tonight, after getting steam rolled in their first two games of their West Coast trip, the New York Knicks take on the Portland Trailblazers, in the Raymond Felton Reunion Party. Oh yes, he will get booed to. With the spirit of Dr. Kavorkian sitting next to Mike Woodson on the bench, the reeling Knicks look to get blown out in the thiird straighht contest in a row. Okay, maybe I’m going overboard with this but the reality is, is that the Knicks are like an old beat up dog that refuses to put up a fight against the neighborhood animals.
It doesn’t take Stephen A. Smith, Michael Kay, Magic Johnson, Kenny Smith or even Dionne Warrick to tell you that the Knick will probably lose 5 straight on the road during this swing. With the Trailblazers. Clippers and Jazz looming, one may say its a given that the Knicks will return to New York with a donut for wins. There only hope may be the Utah Jazz who they handled easily several nights ago, and thats no give me.
The Knicks are simply too banged up and too old to compete during this final stretch of the season. Which leads me to my point that I made yesterday that Mike Woodson really needs to start resting some players and consider going into the playoffs full strength. It is slowly starting to look like the Knicks will not be able to compete in the playoffs like we assumed they would. Age and injuries are finally starting to catch up to the oldest team in the league.
