New York, NY- Well after a long weekend, its time to strap on the chin strap and get it going again with the latest from the Giants and Jets and the rest of the league. Here are some hot topics that should be further played out this week:
The Jets have serious interest in former Oakland Raider Darrius Heyward-Bey. Sources are telling us that they may be able to land him on the cheap. The major road block that exist is that the Indianapolis Colts are said to have interest also.
At some point in time, maybe not today , tomorrow or even this month, but I am sure that Time Tebow will be a prt of our “Give Him the Peace Sign” segment, as the Jets are on the hook for $2.6 million with a non-serviceable back up quarterback.
The Jets did re-sign kicker Nick Folk to a modest deal that will solidify at least one spot on the roster.
New York Giants management has said that they are expecting wide receiver Victor Cruz to get an offer sheet as some point within the next few days. With that looming over the G-Men, team sources have said that they are well prepared for life withoiut Cruz if it happens. However, a representative close to Eli Manning says that the Giants quarterback has been wavering for the
return of the restricted free agent.
The Giants quietly signed former Oakland Raiders tight end Brandon Meyers. Meyers had a pretty solid season with the Raiders (79 catches, 806 yards, 4 TD’s) and with Eli Manning under center there is no telling how productive he can be in a Giants uniform.
And lastly, as reported yesterday, Ahmad Bradshaw looks as if he will be signing a contract with either the Pittsburgh Steelers or Green Bay Packers.
Greg Jennings, the former Green Bay Packer, signed with the rival Minnesota Vikings with a multi year deal.
Nnamdi Asomugha has been making rounds and has interest from the New Orleans Saints and San Francisco 49ers.
According to numerous media outlets, the Bengals are considering Ryan Fitzpatrick as a back up to Andy Dalton. Fitzpatrick is a former Buffalo Bill who was released last week after cashing a huge check just a year and a half ago.
Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting that Joshua Cribbs has met with the Arizona Cardinals in a potential role. He has also been rumored to have visited with the New England Patriots.
