New York, NY – New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning has expressed interest in re-working his contract in order to keep wide receiver Victor Cruz. “I want Victor back with the Giants”, Manning told the Associated Press. Manning has apparently been keeping contact with Cruz saying that he knows Cruz is anxious to get a deal done so he can move on with football.
Cruz has recently hired Tom Condon, who is also Manning’s agent, after firing his previous agent. This led many to believe that Cruz would try to field other offers from teams willing to pay the first round tender. It has been slow moving since Danny Amendola and Wes Welker signed their deals. The market is becoming slower by the day and Cruz may have very little leverage if any moving forward.
The New York Jets have been quiet in the past couple of days; however that does not include Rex Ryan, who had some pretty interesting things to say about Tim Tebow. Ryan claims that Tebow will be in the fold to compete for the quarterback position, as if any of believe that. Ryan also says that Mark Sanchez will have the “first snap” at quarterback for the Jets. He also stated that it will be an open competition amongst the 20 QB’s that are already on the roster.

The Football world is in an uproar over the new Helmet Rule. The rule bars ball carriers from using the crown of their helmets to make forcible contact with a defender in the open field. Former players and coaches have mixed feelings and the rule will be a dicey call on the field. Also, the Tuck Rule has been eliminated. This means if a quarterback loses control of the ball before he has fully protected it after opting not to throw, it is a fumble.
