New York, NY- As per Gary Myers of the New York Daily News, the New York Giants have offered Victor Cruz $7 million per year. This is definitely more that his mere $2.9 million contract he is receiving now, but is it more than another team is willing to offer him? If the Giants elect to use the franchise tag on Cruz he will get more than $10 million. If they do not use the franchise tag then Cruz has the possibility of getting a whole lot more come next year’s free agency. At that point the Giants won’t get anything in return. Fellow teammate David Diehl has also been rumored to want to restructure his deal to keep Cruz around.
Well the Giants can officially bid adieu to one of their long time staples on the defensive line. According to sources Osi Umenyiora is expected to sign with the Atalanta Falcons. In Atlanta Umenyiora will fill in the void left by John Abraham.
New York Jets fans may also be seeing one of their staple players move on also. Linebacker Bryan Thomas has said that he is considering retiring. His reasoning is that he doesn’t know if he is physically prepared to play. He told Seth Walder of the New York Daily News; ” I haven’t even thought about it, to be honest with you.” If I go now and sign for the vet minimum for one year, I wouldn’t even pass a physical right now.” It is highly unlikely that the Jets would keep Thomas anyway.
Former Jet Brandon Moore will visit the Cowboys and Lions.
In other news around the league:
