Orlando, FL- Heat 108, Magic 94 Orlando Magic head coach Jacque Vaughn answered the question very simply, when asked of LeBron James after last nights loss to the Miami Heat; “he’s so big, he has the ability to survey the floor. When he wants to score, he can score. When he wants to pass, he can do that as well.” James had another stellar performance, without the assistance of Dwayne Wade who is still nursing a knee injury, with a 24 point 11 assist nine rebound night. Just another day in the office for the Bionic Man. The Het remain 6 games away from tying the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers.
Late in the third quarter the Magic were able to tie the game at 68 but the Heat closed out the quarter on a 10-0 run and never looked back from there. Th Heat travel to Chicago on Wednesday to take on the Bulls to attempt to keep the streak in tact.
New Orleans, LA- Hornets 110, Nuggets 86 All good things must come to an end at some point. Just don’t tell that to the Denver Nuggets, who were on a 15 game winning streak and had a huge letdown last night versus the New Orleans Hornets. The Nuggets just seemed off last night never getting into any type of rhythm to allow them to get back in the game.
They dug themselves in to an early first quarter hole and were totally out hustled in the second quarter. By the time they looked up they were down by 21 at intermission. the Nuggets shot e a pedestrian 11-32 in the first half and pretty much knew their streak was over as George Karl went deep into his bench midway thru the 4th. The Nuggets are still in a good position as they are 4th in the Western Conference playoff race and just a half
game out of third place and 3 games back of second place.
Washington, DC- Wizards 107, Grizzlies 94 The Memphis Grizzlies have been a pretty consistent bunch this year. The Washington Wizards on the other hand have quietly been playing some solid basketball. This is all due to the much improved play of former first overall draft pick John Wall. Last night he scores a career high 47 points as the Wizards upset the Memphis Grizzlies. The 3rd year point guard shot 13-22 from the field and sank 19 free throws.
“I was just in a zone,” said Wall. A zone that is going to get this young man paid come this of season. It has been rumored that the Wizards are going to give Wall the max contract when the time comes. The Wizards as a team look like they may be the dark horse playoff team that next year. Lets see how this one plays out.
