New York, NY- I am by no means a philosopher. I just call it how I see it. Okay so there is a reality for the Boston Celtics that exist. Life without Rajon Rondo is tougher than Doc Rivers may want you to believe. Not having Kevin Garnett on the floor is a big blow…pause, and Courtney Lee not available is key also. With the exception of Rondo, who is done for the season, I don’t think it matters who is on the floor for the Celtics. Last night was a clear example of why the Knicks would probably beat the Celtics if they have home court advantage. The Knicks have two dynamic scorers in Carmelo and JR Smith in which the Celtics can’t keep up with. Now this is no slight to the Celtics, who do play with an extreme amount of pride, but the difference here is simply two younger players that will give any defender on the Celtics a headache.
Tyson Chandler and Kevin Garnett can pretty much cancel each other out. Jeff Green is solid but no way near as efficient as Carmelo offensively and Avery Bradley is a solid point guard who will out hustle anyone yet his is a mismatch guarding JR Smith off the bench. I am not saying if these teams meet each other in the quarterfinals of the playoffs that it will be a sweep. I am pointing out that the Knicks’ horses can out trump the Celtics horses in a 7 game series. With all due respect to Paul Pierce, he clearly does not have the defensive legs to keep up with dominant scorers any longer. I may eat these words at a later time, but if you held a gun to my head I have to give the Knicks the edge, regardless of whose on the floor.
